We're shaping your energy transition
Less CO₂, greater efficiency—step by step toward a sustainable future.
The decarbonization of buildings, industrial facilities, and infrastructure is one of the greatest challenges of our time. Rising energy costs, regulatory requirements, and ambitious climate goals call for solutions that take both environmental and economic factors into account.
Decarbonization means the gradual reduction of a company’s CO₂ emissions: through lower energy consumption, the transition to renewable energy, the electrification of processes and vehicles, or the expansion of smart energy grids. The measures required to achieve this are diverse—some can be implemented quickly and on a small budget, while others require larger investments with payback periods of several years. This is precisely why early, holistic planning is worthwhile, so that individual measures build on one another rather than existing in isolation.
Through Carbon Shift, Equans Switzerland brings together expertise from a wide range of disciplines to support customers on this journey. This ranges from energy efficiency and energy management to the decarbonization of heating, cooling, and electricity supply, as well as sustainable planning and development concepts. We view decarbonization not as a single measure, but as a long-term transformation process. We prefer to support our clients every step of the way—from the initial analysis and strategy development to the implementation and continuous optimization of the defined measures.
Our
approach
A well-thought-out roadmap rather than isolated, individual measures.
Individual measures can also be implemented on their own. However, they are significantly more effective when implemented as part of a long-term, well-timed plan. Because measures vary in complexity and have different investment horizons, we support companies through four sequential phases: from strategic planning through initial short-term steps to a long-term partnership.
1. Assess the current situation & develop a roadmap
Transparency and a clear strategy are the foundation of every well-informed decision.
Before you invest, you should know where you stand. We assess your current energy consumption, identify potential savings, and use that information to develop a roadmap. This may involve a completely new strategy or the implementation of an existing one. This ensures that the subsequent measures are coordinated in a timely and effective manner.
2. Optimize what already exists
There is often room for improvement in the existing infrastructure.
In accordance with the defined roadmap, we optimize existing systems, control systems, and processes. This is achieved with a manageable investment and a short payback period.
3. Transform the infrastructure
To ensure a successful energy transition, we must set the right course today.
In the next step of the roadmap, we plan and implement larger investment projects—ranging from new power generation facilities to the electrification of our vehicle fleet and processes.
4. Provide long-term support
Decarbonization doesn't end with commissioning.
Even after implementation, we’ll continue to support you throughout the entire operational life cycle—with maintenance, monitoring, and the ongoing refinement of your measures in line with the roadmap.
How we can help you
A partner for virtually the entire spectrum of the energy transition.
The four phases illustrate how we work together. Our range of services shows exactly how we can support you. Depending on which phase your company is in, we’ll draw on different services from the following areas—often several at the same time.
Energy monitoring & management
Transparency lays the foundation for targeted measures and robust ESG reporting.
We track, analyze, and manage your energy consumption to serve as the basis for active load management and continuous optimization. At the same time, we ensure that the collected data is organized in a way that makes it usable for your ESG reporting.
Buildings (systems & envelope)
Energy efficiency starts with heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and the building envelope.
From building systems to energy-efficient retrofits of the building envelope: We make properties of all kinds ready for the future.
Manufacturing & industry
Industrial processes require their own solutions.
Process heat, compressed air, waste heat recovery, and industrial automation differ fundamentally from traditional building systems. We optimize and decarbonize production facilities and industrial processes without disrupting operations.
Electric mobility
The mobility transition begins with the right infrastructure.
We implement the necessary infrastructure for the electrification of your vehicle fleet—from planning through to operation.
Renewable energy (electricity & heat)
Generate your own energy instead of just consuming it.
From solar power to heat pumps to biomass plants: We build renewable energy systems tailored to your location.
Grids (electricity & heat)
Use the energy generated right where it's needed.
We design and build smart electricity and heating networks that enable the efficient distribution and use of energy—even beyond the boundaries of individual buildings.
